April 22, 2004
Page 2
Head Coach Mark Tietjen recognized Assistant Coach John Parker, thanked the
Board, and noted that everyone has benefited from CRPD facilities. He introduced
each athlete, and cited his achievements.
On behalf of the Board, Holt and Jacobsen, with the assistance of Lukes,
presented awards to the athletes.
Board members offered their congratulations, and recognized the parents and
coaches for their efforts and support of the athletes.
4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC
Sharon Noel, Thousand Oaks, spoke in opposition to lights in the dog park. She
said she had been a member of the focus group, and lights were not discussed as
part of the original plan.
Gibson said that the lights are proposed to operate for a very limited amount of
time during winter months only.
Nancy Thompson, Thousand Oaks, spoke in opposition to the use of jolly
jumpers in Waverly Neighborhood Park because of generator noise. Additionally,
she requested additional fencing around the facility for safety purposes, white
fencing to separate the multiuse trail and park, and regular and frequent policing of
the park to discourage deviant behavior.
Bonnie Stein, Thousand Oaks, distributed a flyer, spoke in opposition to dog park
lighting, and said that the dog park has already had a negative impact on the
neighborhood.
Bonnie Stein submitted a written statement card in opposition to dog park lighting,
and urged that regular patrols be instituted and permits be required for large
gatherings and the use of jolly jumpers.
Clay Hulett, representing Conejo Valley Days (CVD), distributed CVD
memorabilia, and expressed appreciation for District support, especially with
parking issues.
5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
It was moved by Lange, seconded by Gibson, and carried 4-0, to approve
the agenda as presented.
