March 4, 2004
Page 2
7. DEFERRED MATTERS
None
8. NEW ITEMS
A. Conejo Valley Days Annual Permit Conditions
Friedl referenced the amended agreement, summary and map, identified
parking areas and their priority designations, and presented background
information. He said that although approximately 1,000 parking spaces
would be unavailable due to current construction at Conejo Creek South,
approximately 1,000 spaces would be gained through the combined use of
parking facilities at Conejo Creek North, Conejo Valley Unified School District
property, Thousand Oaks Library, Goebel Senior Adult Center and Teen
Center; and Conejo Valley Days will provide a shuttle service. He noted the
presence of Ken Calcut, General Chair of Conejo Valley Days Activities
Corporation (CVAC).
In response to Board inquiries, Friedl and Calcut discussed the needs of
vendor parking, and explained that the amount of handicapped parking has
not changed and priority parking will be designated for attendees versus
vendors; this year, as in the past, during Conejo Valley Days the Thousand
Oaks Library, Goebel Senior Adult Center and Teen Center will modify their
hours, (shortened hours during the week and closure on Saturday and
Sunday) thus providing additional parking space.
In response to Gibson's inquiry, Calcut said that CVAC Board has no
problem with the concept of a joint CRPDICVAC account to be held in trust
by the Ventura County Community Foundation, but it can not be implemented
until after this year's event.
Referencing C.8. of the Permit Conditions, Gibson requested that setup or
teardown of equipment be consistent with City of Thousand Oaks noise
ordinances. Ward stated that an outreach effort will be made to adjacent
residents, relative to the event, and their indulgence will be requested.
Ken Calcut, thanked District Board, staff and the community for their
support. He said he looks forward to a good event.
