CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 22, 2004 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager ward, Assistant General Manager Friedl, <br />Administrator Benton, Recreation Managers Lindsey and Wiley, Parks <br />Superintendent Marchesano, RSVP Director Powers, Recreation Supervisor <br />Hamm and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Benton introduced and welcomed Cindy Powers, new RSVP Director, and <br />highlighted her professional and academic achievements and work experience. <br />Borchard Skateboard Park — Patti Hamm <br />Hamm presented a slide show presentation, and cited the positive changes at the <br />skateboard park in 2003 including: the addition of a skate park specialist, lessons, <br />three cameras, and hourly monitoring by staff, establishment of an advisory <br />council, recruitment of volunteers, and dedicated skate time for younger skaters. <br />She highlighted a successful skateboard contest in May, that included the <br />involvement of many organizations. She said the result has been a significant <br />decrease in complaints, vandalism, and graffiti. She said the goals for 2004 <br />include a spring break skate camp, lessons for skaters 12 and younger, two more <br />skateboard contests, and the continuation of positive relationships. <br />Board members thanked and congratulated staff for the positive changes at the <br />skateboard park. <br />Jacobsen requested additional user information for planning purposes. <br />
