November 17, 2005 <br />Page 4 <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Friedl reported that a no smoking policy applies to open space and signage <br />is posted; the dog park will remain open until the light poles arrive; grass will <br />be planted within five or six weeks at Sycamore Neighborhood Park; and <br />the Conejo Creek Master Plan provides for a site for Conejo Valley Days; <br />Concluding, he said that, as part of the widening of Freeway 23 by Cal <br />Trans in 2006, sound walls will be constructed at Conejo Creek North and <br />the project will enable construction of connecting trails between Las Flores <br />and Conejo Creek North. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Benton reported that the Young Artists Ensemble's presentation of "The <br />Sound of Music" is currently sold out; the Kid's Swap Meet will be held on <br />November 19 at Thousand Oaks Center; the Harvest Dance for 7th and 8th <br />grade middle school teens is scheduled for November 19 at the Teen <br />Center; flu shots for seniors will be available November 19 at Goebel Senior <br />Adult Center; and the Starlight Ball will be held December 4 at the Clarion <br />Hotel. <br />She introduced Kurt Gunning, the new full-time Recreation Coordinator, and <br />presented an overview of his academic and professional background. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda noted the distribution of the professional service agreement <br />between the District and Johnson & Associates for the previously approved <br />compensation study. <br />D. Genera! Manager's Report <br />Ward commented on the Legislative Analyst's report on the State budget <br />and implications for CRPD. He said it was likely that a closed session will <br />be scheduled to discuss a Quimby Fee issue; arrangements have been <br />made for the State of the City Luncheon on November 29; and Hillcrest <br />Center hosted both Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks Rotary Clubs earlier <br />
