CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 16, 2005 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />I . CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Berger called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Dennis Gass led the <br />flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Jacobsen arrived at 8:20 p.m. <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Manager Friedl, <br />Administrators Benton and Lewanda, Recreation Managers Wiley and Lindsey, <br />Parks Superintendent Marchesano, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />COSTAC (Conejo Open Space Trails Advisory Council) Trails Education Days <br />Contest Winners <br />Michael Khalil Halley Weinstock Nicole Quance <br />Julia Osborn, President of Conejo Open Space Foundation, and Elayne Haggan, <br />COSTAC member, highlighted the 14th annual Conejo Open Space Trails <br />Advisory Council essay contest. She said that approximately 1,000 children <br />participated in event activities this year, and 700 children entered the essay <br />contest. She introduced the three winners, Michael Khali of Westlake Hills <br />Elementary School, Halley Weinstock of Wildwood Elementary School, and Nicole <br />Quance, Aspen Elementary School. She thanked the parents and District for their <br />support of COSTAC. <br />On behalf of the District, Berger presented gifts to the winners. Board members <br />commended the winners, teachers, participants and COSTAC volunteers. <br />
