February 3, 2005 <br />Page 4 <br />District does not use anticoagulants in its pest control program; relative to <br />the Lang Ranch Community Park, he and Senior Planner Pluth made a <br />presentation at a recent Westlake Joint Board meeting, and a Lang Ranch <br />Community Park project description will shortly be brought to the CRPD <br />Board for discussion; the Surplus Property Advisory Committee, of which <br />he is a member, has made a recommendation to the Conejo Valley Unified <br />School District that the continuing education high school site on Kelly Road <br />be relocated to a shared site with Moorpark College on Janss Road; staff is <br />meeting with those interested and involved with the Persian New Year <br />celebration, and staff expects to return to the Board with a permit request <br />for consideration. <br />In response to Lange's inquiry, Friedl said that there are no plans, at <br />present, to erect netting at Amgen Field, but staff will observe and evaluate <br />the situation. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Wiley reported that that the District and Conejo Valley Neighborhood for <br />Learning will present "Celebrate the Family' parenting conference on <br />February 5 at Newbury Park High School; the Valentine's Day dance for 7' <br />and a grade teens will be held February 5; and RSVP will have volunteers <br />available to provide tax preparation service for seniors and low income <br />people continuing through April 14. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda noted the documentation relative to the increased cost of the <br />recent election, which identified overhead allocation, ballots printed in <br />English and Spanish, an increase in the number of absentee voters and last <br />minute voter registrations as cost factors. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Ward reported that he had been in Sacramento to attend the Legislative <br />Committee meeting, and he presented a brief overview of relevant political <br />issues, including the Educational Revenue Augmentation Fund (ERAF). <br />Concluding, he said staff continues to meet with representatives of <br />California Lutheran University (CLU) to discuss the proposed pool's usage <br />and funding. <br />
