CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 20, 2005 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Berger called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m., and Robert Barrett <br />led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Manager Friedl, <br />Administrator Lewanda, Recreation Managers Lindsey and Wiley, Parks <br />Superintendent Marchesano and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Employee Recognition Awards <br />Senior staff members commended District employees, and Board members <br />thanked and congratulated the honorees. An overview of each employee's <br />professional and academic achievements was presented. On behalf of the Board <br />and staff, Ward presented awards to the honorees. <br />Robert Barrett received an award for 30 years of service, Pete Martinez and <br />Shauna Welty for 15 years; Glen Kinney and Mike McAdam for 10 years, <br />Marc Gann, Loren Pluth and Tamara Spatz for five years. <br />Honorees thanked staff, management and Board of Directors for their support, <br />and spoke of their pride in the organization. <br />The meeting recessed at 8:10 p.m. and reconvened at 8:20 p.m. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Cathy Carlson, Thousand Oaks, stated concern regarding the legality of single <br />sex classes, requested that the name of the Spring Meadow Park be changed to <br />
