CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 2, 2006 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Lange led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda, <br />and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Las Flores Community Garden Yearly Report — Carol Nierman, President <br />Hare introduced Nierman, who highlighted 2006 accomplishments and the <br />financial status of the garden. She stated that the garden is full; 31 members <br />range from high-school age to beyond -retirement -age; the garden has acquired <br />more compost bins; the Do It Center provided free plants and soil amendments for <br />the Manna garden; and good relationships exist with the dog park constituents and <br />the equestrian community. <br />In response to Board inquiries, Nierman said that another garden facility would be <br />desirable, especially in the Newbury Park area, the garden participates in Earth <br />Day activities, and there are plans to increase publicity. <br />In response to Berger's inquiry, staff said that no complaints, relative to the <br />garden, have been received in the past three years. <br />Board members urged increased publicity to inform the community of the facility. <br />Hare said that consideration is being given to garden publicity in the quarterly <br />brochure and the District's website as well. <br />4.
