CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 22, 2006 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Benton led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Halt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: Berger <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Manager Friedl, <br />Administrators Benton and Lewanda, Sports Supervisor Lukes and Executive <br />Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Special Presentation <br />On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Conejo Recreation & Park <br />District, Gibson presented a proclamation to "SO Commissioner Gary Nelson, <br />honoring Region 42. Also in attendance were Mrs. Gary Nelson, Nicholas S. <br />Maddox, Steve McDaniel and Richard Becker. Nelson thanked the District for its <br />facilities and support, praised the positive collaboration between the two <br />organizations, briefly highlighted recent AYSO achievements and activities, and <br />noted that last year player participation increased approximately 11.5 percent. <br />Board members congratulated AYSO, Region 42, and commended volunteers that <br />make such organizations possible. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Corin L. Kahn, Esq. distributed correspondence, and spoke in opposition to the <br />Public Works Plan submitted by Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy (SMMC) <br />and Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) to the Coastal <br />Commission on June 9, 2006. <br />
