CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 23, 2006 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m., and Sr. Park Planner Pluth <br />led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, .Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Manager Friedl, <br />Administrators Benton and Lewanda, Sr. Park Planner Pluth and Executive <br />Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Jerry Lewi, Thousand Oaks, spoke in memory of Willis Martin, unofficial leader of <br />the Goebel Senior Adult Center tennis group. Lewi noted that Mr. Martin was a <br />regular participant and played well into his 90'h year. Additionally, Lewi thanked the <br />District for use of its facilities. <br />Gibson paid tribute to Mr. Martin, and announced that the meeting would be <br />adjourned in his memory. <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Ward stated that the Brown Act generally requires a legislative body to take action <br />only on agenized items; however California Government Code Section <br />54954.2(b)(2) provides an exception for items requiring immediate action that came <br />to the attention of the local agency after posting of the agenda. He said that the <br />agenda was posted March 20, 2006 for the March 23 meeting; on March 22, staff <br />met with representatives from Continuing Life Communities regarding their payment <br />of park dedication fees under protest; a timely response, prior to next Board <br />meeting, is advisable; and the purpose of the Closed Session is to the discuss the <br />parameters of a resolution. <br />
