February 16, 2006 <br />Page 6 <br />In response to Lange's inquiries, Friedl said that other community centers, <br />including Lang Ranch Community Park, could be possible locations for <br />another skatepark, but a planning exercise with the Board and community <br />would be necessary to study the issue. <br />D. Budget Performance Report — January 2006 — No Comment <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Friedl reported that final construction of the remaining items is underway at <br />Sycamore Neighborhood Park, and a spring dedication is anticipated; the <br />circulation of the negative declaration for Northwood Neighborhood Park will <br />be completed February 21; Requests for Proposals (RFP's) have been sent <br />out for road improvements at Thousand Oaks Community Park, but due to <br />the increased cost of oil, the expenditure will be greater than previously <br />anticipated; the tang Ranch Community Park site geological technical <br />studies are still underway; and Friedl is one of five scorers for RFP's for the <br />public equestrian center. <br />Concluding, he said that staff met with City of Thousand Oaks (CTO) <br />representatives to discuss the California Lutheran University pool; <br />permission was granted by CTO to allow parking on Olson Road, which <br />may result in a larger pool facility and possibly a splash park; and it is <br />expected that staff with return to the Board in two or three months for Board <br />direction. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Halt stated her appreciation to Benton and staff for the outstanding multi - <br />agency event at Hillcrest Center on February 9. <br />Benton reported that the Teen Center is sponsoring a snowboarding trip to <br />Mountain High on February 17 and a concert for resident high school <br />students is scheduled for March 4. At Borchard Community Center, the 19' <br />Annual Spring Arts & Craft Festival will be held on March 4 and 5. The <br />Therapeutic Unit, sponsor of the Conejo Theatre for Everyone, will present <br />"Alice and Wonderland" on February 24 -26. And the Young Artists <br />Ensemble presentation of "Alice in Wonderland" concludes its run on <br />February 19 at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts. <br />
