November 1, 2007 <br />Page 4 <br />B. Activity Summary <br />No action. <br />12. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Hare synopsized the results of the recent fires and winds. He said there <br />was no structural damage to District property, it was necessary to remove <br />some downed limbs, rangers closed trails for several days, a fire watch was <br />instituted, Thousand Oaks Center was put on standby as an emergency <br />center, but was not needed, staff worked closely with the fire department; <br />and a five -acre fire erupted on Rabbit Hill but burned itself out. <br />The hybrid vehicle previously approved by the Board has been received <br />and is in service. A shade structure is being installed at Old Meadows <br />Center. <br />Concluding, Hare said that the Lang Ranch E.I.R. will be presented to the <br />Board for certification in December. After discussion it was agreed to <br />present the Environmental Impact Report (E.I.R.) January 17. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Benton noted a Holiday Arts & Crafts Boutique will be presented on <br />November 3 and 10 at Borchard Community Center and Goebel Senior <br />Adult Center respectively. The Outdoor Unit will conduct Sycamore to the <br />Sea hike on November 17 and shuttle service will be provided back to <br />Borchard Community Center and lunch will be served. The Kids Swap <br />Meet is scheduled for November 17 at Thousand Oaks Community Center, <br />and the Young Artists Ensemble's presentation of The Secret Garden will <br />be presented November 2 through November 18. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda stated that a new Human Resources Supervisor Shelly Howell <br />was hired and has been working for approximately two weeks. <br />
