DEFERRED MATTERS <br />►�[* " <br />8. NEW ITEMS <br />D. Approval of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with American <br />Youth Soccer Organization, Region 9, (AYSO) for Use of Fields at <br />Conejo Creek South <br />Hare provided relevant intormation and referenced the long-standing <br />beneficial relationship between Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) <br />and the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO). He said that CRPD, <br />with coordination and assistance of AYSO, has developed a Master Pian for <br />continued improvements at Conejo Creek South, and both parties have <br />agreed to enter into an MOU, whose initial term is 10 years. He highlighted <br />the terms and financial aspects of the MOU, and noted AYSO has first <br />priority use of the soccer complex, AYSO will pay $370,000 to help defray <br />the estimated $2.55 million cost of construction of the Master Plan Phase 2 <br />improvements, and will use its best efforts to raise an additional $300,000 to <br />be used during the continued multi -phase construction period of the Master <br />Plan. He noted the presence of Chuck Huffer, representing AYSO, Region <br />9. <br />Huffer thanked the District for its support. He said that AYSO is ready to <br />assist with the financing, and less than 15 percent of AYSO participants are <br />not District residents. <br />In response to Gibson's inquiries, Hare said that the award of contract for <br />Phase 2 of Conejo Creek South will be presented to the Board June 7, the <br />former rodeo areas will be turfed, and parking lots will be paved as funds <br />permit. <br />Board members praised AYSO and its contribution to the welfare of area <br />youth. Gibson recommended that "SO be nominated for California <br />Association of Recreation and Park Districts (CARPD) Outstanding <br />Organization Award. <br />
