Parks Division Report
Hare said that earlier in evening he met with members of a Dos Vientos Homeowners
Association, who expressed strong support for the Dos Vientos Playfield. Many are
expected to attend the upcoming Planning Commission meeting to express their
support. He said that the ribbon cutting ceremony at Northwood Neighborhood Park
is scheduled for November 21 and invited everyone to attend. Development of
construction documents for the western portion of Oakbrook Neighborhood Park will
begin shortly, and it is expected that the project will be put to bid in spring 2010.
B. Recreation Division Report
Wiley referenced documentation, and highlighted recreation events and activities,
including special holiday events. He stated that the Young Artists Ensemble and
Teen Center received equal donations ($2,500 each) from Bruce Stanton from the
proceeds of the "Reign of Terror' Haunted House, which took place at the Janss
Marketplace. The Silver Starlight Ball will be held Sunday, December 6 at the Clarion
Palm Garden Hotel.
C. Management Services Division Report
Lewanda stated that the District audit is underway and going well. The State of
California is currently conducting an audit of Mountains Recreation and Conservation
Authority (MRCA), a grantee of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy (SMMC),
which will continue for approximately one month. The California Highway Patrol
conducted an evaluation of the District's fleet and drug testing program and declared
the program satisfactory. A collaborative effort is resulting in progress being made on
the District website redesign, and New World Systems is working with staff to convert
the accounting system.
D. General Manager's Report
Friedl highlighted Employee Appreciation Day, and thanked all those who supported
the effort, including Board members who attended.
