CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 2009 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:33 P.M. and Mike Berger, former Board member, <br />led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, Lange, Short <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Gibson excused himself and left at 8:25 PM <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda, <br />Recreation Manager Wiley, Recreation Supervisor Koval, and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />Goebel Senior Adult Center — Recreation Supervisor Andrea Koval <br />Koval summarized new recreation and education programs, RSVP and Senior Nutrition <br />activities and services, and building upgrades. She identified cooperative community service <br />groups, various local community groups served by the center and program sponsors. She <br />said that a 9% increase in activity units and a 10% increase in attendance have occurred <br />over the last five years. <br />Recognition of former CRPD Board Member Mike Berger by: <br />Joseph T. Edmiston, FAICP, Hon. ASLA, Executive Officer <br />Rorie A. Skei, Chief Deputy Executive Officer <br />Jerome C. Daniel, Vice Chairperson, MRCA <br />Jim Hassenauer, Member, MRCA <br />Mark Towne, COSCA <br />Kristin Foord, COSCA <br />Jim Friedl, on behalf of the City of Thousand Oaks <br />Berger's significant involvement, support and leadership in numerous local organizations, <br />projects and agencies were highlighted. He was thanked for his many years of service to the <br />community, and presented with tokens of appreciation and recognition. <br />
