May 28, 2009 <br />Page 5 <br />B. Environmental Report Card for Park and Recreation Agencies <br />Friedl referenced the environmental report card for park and recreation agencies <br />from a recent California Association of Recreation and Park Districts (CARPD) <br />Conference seminar, and noted that, as part of the update to the District's five <br />year strategic plan, the vision statement was modified to reflect a desire for more <br />environmental responsibility. He said that once the report is completed, staff will <br />share the results of the initial assessment with the Board as well as CARPD. <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />No report. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Benton referenced documentation and highlighted recreation events and <br />activities. A Summer Skateboard Contest is scheduled on May 30. At Goebel <br />Senior Adult Center, a Generation Celebration and a Senior Pageant will be held <br />on May 31. "Steel Magnolias" will be presented at the Hillcrest Center for the <br />Arts June 5 through 21. The 6ffi Grade Celebration is scheduled for June 6 at the <br />Teen Center. Artwalk, the two-day juried fine art and designer craft show <br />sponsored by the Conejo Valley Art Museum and supported by the District will be <br />held June 6 and 7. <br />Concluding, she noted that news coverage of the Teen Center and Goebel <br />Senior Adult Center recently occurred and was aired on local television. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda stated that a total of 314 lbs. have been lost by approximately 20 <br />employee members of the weight lose program. <br />Holt stated support for a District sponsored blood drive. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl noted that June 3 will be a lobbying opportunity in Sacramento sponsored <br />
