May 28, 2009 <br />Page 3 <br />Several large projects, with a total of nearly $6.6 million budgeted, were <br />completed including: Phase 2 Development at Conejo Creek South, the <br />Community Pool at California Lutheran University, and Amenities Relocation <br />Phase 1 at Conejo Community Park. Additional notable completed projects <br />include: Lakeside Picnic Structure Structural Renovation at Conejo Creek North <br />and Sewer Line Installation at Walnut Grove Equestrian. An additional project <br />nearing completion is Phase 1 Improvements at Northwood Neighborhood Park. <br />"paper projects" include Lang Ranch Community Park, McCrea Ranch, Oakbrook <br />Neighborhood Park and Oakbrook Service Yard. <br />Parks and Planning staff, in coordination with Recreation Division staff developed <br />a proposed 10 Year Capital Improvement Plan, and then prioritized the projects. <br />For fiscal year 2009-10, staff is proposing 28 projects at a cost of $4,946,000. <br />Projects include Design Development at Lang Ranch Community Park, <br />Infrastructure for Public Access at McCrea Ranch, Parking Expansion at Rancho <br />Conejo Playfield, and Amenities Relocation Phase 2 at Conejo Community Park. <br />Fiscal Year 2010-11 -- the three largest projects account for $11,825,000 and <br />include Design Development and Phase 1 Development at Lang Ranch <br />Community Park, Maintenance Yard Development at Oakbrook Service Yard, <br />and Phase 1 Development at Oakbrook Neighborhood Park. <br />Hare also highlighted years 3 through 10 of the proposed 10 -Year Capital <br />Improvement Plan. He noted the District has a verbal agreement with Conejo <br />Valley United Soccer Club for lighting improvements at Thousand Oaks <br />Community Park. <br />Hare said a significant source of funds is the property owner/voter approved <br />Districtwide Assessment. He also cited the importance of partnerships and <br />agreements, and noted the City of Thousand Oaks has proposed $5,000,000 in <br />its budget for Lang Ranch Community Park development. <br />In response to Gibson's concern relative to water costs, Hare spoke of the goal of <br />reducing turf areas, managing water usage, weather -based sprinkler systems, <br />and investigating synthetic turf and use of recycled water. <br />Lange said he received positive feedback relative to the relocation of amenities at <br />Conejo Community Park. <br />Jacobsen recommended a study session focusing on funding options for the <br />District. <br />
