CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPECIAL MEETING <br />JANUARY 8, 2009 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: Gibson <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl; Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda; <br />and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />Fayde Macune, President, Las Flores Community Garden <br />Macune distributed copies of the Las Flores Community Garden Annual Report for <br />2008. She thanked the Board for its support and highlighted 2008 <br />accomplishments, including membership, site improvements, education and <br />community outreach, success of organic gardening, member activities, remaining <br />tasks, and insurance. She said that membership currently is 58 member families; <br />72 plots have been rented; the Eagle Scouts have been responsible for several <br />projects, including two wheelchair -accessible raised beds and two mobile compost <br />sifters; and three workshops have been held on organic gardening. Concluding, <br />Macune said that gardening success can be measured by happy gardeners, <br />excess crops to share, new techniques tried, and expanding membership; and this <br />Las Flores Community Garden has achieved. <br />Board members thanked Macune for the report and her efforts. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />S. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Jacobsen, seconded by Lange, and carried 3-0 to approve <br />the agenda as presented. <br />
