May 20, 2010 <br />Page 5 <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare invited everyone to the grand opening of Rabbit Flats Disc Golf Course at <br />Thousand Oaks Community Park on May 22 and highlighted activities planned. The <br />construction bid process has been initiated for the McCrea Ranch improvements and it <br />is expected that staff will return for Board award in July. He noted that on June 3, prior <br />to the regular Board meeting, an open public tour of Las Flores Community Garden is <br />planned for anyone interested. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />On behalf of California Association of Recreation and Park Districts (CARPD) Gibson <br />presented Benton with an award for Best Innovative Program. <br />Benton referenced documentation, and highlighted recreation events and activities. <br />Generation Celebration and Ms. Senior Conejo Valley are scheduled for May 22 and <br />23 at the Goebel Senior Adult Center. A Community Safety & Wellness Day is <br />scheduled for June 9 and is presented by the City of Thousand Oaks and the Conejo <br />Recreation and Park District. The Summer Concerts in the Park opens with a tribute <br />to the Monkees on Monday, May 31 at Conejo Community Park. ArtWalk'10 will be <br />held June 5 and 6 on the Bank of America Building site. For the first time, Summer <br />Basketball is offering a 40+ League and is currently accepting registrations. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No report. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl stated that participants of the May 11 tour conducted for the Senior Adult <br />Master Plan Recreation Implementation Committee were impressed with District <br />facilities and programming opportunities. Concluding, he said that a broad ranging <br />discussion, including the status of Santa Rosa Park, was held with District staff, and <br />representatives of the City of Thousand Oaks and the Santa Rosa Municipal <br />Advisory Council. <br />
