CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 6, 2010 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and Engel led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, Lange, Short <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda, <br />Recreation Manager Lindsey, Recreation Supervisor Engel, Recreation Coordinator Spatz <br />and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />Dos Vientos Community Center Presentation - Recreation Supervisor Engel <br />Noting Dos Vientos Community Center's dedication in January 2003, Engel provided a <br />presentation documenting the center's growth in revenue, recreation activities, participants, <br />classes and permits. He said that very good working relationships exist with a variety of user <br />groups, including local homeowner associations and four major community sports groups, <br />which use the center. He highlighted activities and events, credited the center's success to <br />excellent staff and volunteers, and introduced Recreation Coordinator Spatz. <br />Board members expressed their appreciation for the presentation and support of the Dos <br />Vientos staff. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Joe Pagano, Thousand Oaks, spoke of current economic concerns and urged cutting <br />expenses relative to the Lang Ranch project, and building a "reasonable" size park. <br />Ron Siegel, Thousand Oaks, urged that the Lang Ranch project be similar in size and scope <br />to Dos Vientos Community Park. He noted that only one temporary bathroom is currently <br />available at the Lang Ranch Neighborhood Park. <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Holt, seconded by Lange, and carried 5-0, to approve the agenda as <br />presented. <br />
