Less well known reasons are
increased economic activity, expanded employment activity, and the District's
economic value to our community, region and state, which Friedl said, are the
focuses of Dr. Damooei's report.
Damooei's presentation—" An Economic Engine of Ventura County and State of
California'—provided District background, study methodology and local, county and
statewide data. He said that his research indicates that the District is an economic
engine of Ventura County. It fuels output, tax revenue and job creation, both
through its direct budgetary expenditures, and indirectly through affiliated
organizations that use its facilities, visitors who are brought to the area for activities,
and volunteers who freely donate their creative energy to community causes.
Damooei said that due to all the impacts that are hard to measure, the calculations
only represent a baseline for the true economic impact of the agency.
Damooei expressed his gratitude to staff for their time and help.
Board members stated their appreciation of the report calling it timely, enlightening
and valuable.
Jacobsen opined that senior volunteerism is greater than that which is reflected in the
data. Staff indicated that they will review senior volunteer data.
Friedl thanked Damooei and said that the information will be shared with professional
organizations, the City of Thousand Oaks, and the Conejo Valley Unified School
District.
B.
