Conejo Recreation and Park District 2011 Year in Review & Five Year <br />Strategic Plan (2011-2015) Update for 2011 <br />Friedl introduced the Year in Review and highlighted a few items including the <br />acquisition of the Grand Piano, the District's receiving an Arts Star Award, and <br />the Ventura County Star's Readers Choice award for best park. Friedl reflected <br />on the year 2011 with a focus on three key staff members, Hare, representing <br />the Parks & Planning Division, Lewanda, representing the Management <br />Services Division and Lindsey, representing the Recreation Services Division, <br />and called out highlights of their division's accomplishments this year. <br />Friedl thanked the Board for their leadership and their support of staff and the <br />mission of the District. The District's 50th anniversary begins January 2013 and <br />preparations for this milestone will occur throughout 2012. <br />D. Thousand Oaks Rotary Club Chili Cook -Off 2012 <br />Annual Agreement and Permit Conditions, Conejo Creek Park <br />Hare introduced the item, stating next year will be the fourth year the District will <br />contract directly with the Thousand Oaks Rotary Club for their Chili Cook -Off. <br />He introduced Barbara Murray, Chair of the event, who gave highlights of the <br />most recent Chili Cook -Off and talked about plans for the coming year. She <br />made note of Director Jones' committee membership and extended an invitation <br />to board members to participate as a judge for either the pageant or the chili <br />tasting. She thanked the Board for their continuing support. <br />In answer to Gibson's question, the only change from last year's agreement is: <br />last year the District charged a fee plus a percentage (which resulted in $2,000 <br />flat fee plus approx. $4,000 percentage, for a total of $6,000.) This year, the <br />District is charging a flat fee of $3,000 per day for the two-day event. <br />
