It
was unanimously agreed upon to close the nominations. The election of
Gibson as Vice Chair was declared unanimous.
Friedl referenced the CRPD Board of Directors Appointments and Assignments for
2012 and asked Board members to consider the 2013 appointments. This will be
brought before the Board at the next meeting.
B. Memorandum of Understanding with the Conejo Valley Unified School District
Regarding Conejo Elementary School/Beyer Park
Hare introduced the item. Beyer Park is on school district property (adjacent to
Conejo Elementary School) and has been operated after school hours as a
neighborhood park. Construction of the east end grounds operations at Oakbrook
Service Yard will be completed in the near future; as a result, Conejo Service Yard
(CSY), which is also adjacent to Conejo Elementary, will be vacated. Hare has been
working with school representatives on an exit strategy for CSY. CRPD will no
longer maintain the property known as Beyer Park but will contribute
$3,OOOlannually, with an annual increase of 3%, to the school district towards park
maintenance and operations costs. The Park District would continue to maintain the
monument sign and the park will remain open, as it is presently, during non -school
hours.
Board members raised concerns over the agreement's lack of an expiration date,
especially given the cash consideration provided by the District.
Jones moved, Gibson seconded, and it carried 6-0, to continue this item and
revisit it a future date.
