CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />May 24, 2012 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Lange called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. and Buchanan led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare, Lewanda and Lindsey, <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Cultural Unit — Elementary School Chorus Program <br />Scott Buchanan, Cultural Programs Supervisor introduced Megan McDonough, Cultural <br />Programs Recreation Coordinator. McDonough provided a history of the elementary <br />music program in the local schools. She highlighted the accomplishments of music <br />teacher Frank LaGuardia, who is the founding choir program coordinator. Nine years ago <br />he began staging musicals at the elementary school level. Under his leadership, the <br />program has grown by leaps and bounds. McDonough introduced Abby Thompson and <br />Abby Maurer, third graders from Westlake Elementary School, who performed a song from <br />"Annie Jr." <br />Board member's questions were answered by LaGuardia and McDonough and thanks <br />were given for the great musical programs available in the elementary schools. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Jean Reiley, President of the Conejo Botanic Garden, addressed the Board with concerns <br />regarding the lack of parking at the Garden. <br />S. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Holt, seconded by Jacobsen, and carried 5-0 to approve the <br />
