March 14, 2013 <br />Page 4 <br />were served there last Saturday afternoon. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Lindsey referenced the Recreation Highlights. On Tuesday, April 9th, there will be a <br />grand opening of the Resource Center at the Oaks Mall. It is located near the food <br />court and is already in operation. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No report. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl was invited by Supervisor Parks' office to meet with her staff next week <br />regarding a potential grant for a planning study for a bikeway along the Arroyo <br />Conejo in Newbury Park. The COSCA Strategic Plan Committee met last night; <br />CRPD participants Included some of the Rangers and Matt Kouba, Park <br />Superintendent. There were 15 — 20 attendees from the public. The plan should be <br />ready for adoption at the next COSCA Board meeting. With the departure of Mark <br />Watkins, Andrew Powers is now acting Assistant City Manager. Friedl announced <br />there would be no need for an Executive Closed Session this evening. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />Yesterday sones attended the candidate interviews for the Goebel Senior Center <br />Commission. There were 14 applicants for seven positions; the group represented a <br />pool of very qualified applicants. He attended CPRS in San Jose last week. <br />Holt attended CPRS in San Jose last week; she was pleased to see so many staff <br />members from the Parks Division participating. <br />Lange attended an MRCA meeting on Wednesday; there has been a request for <br />MRCA to be the lead agency in developing a 2.5 mile kayaking run along the Los <br />Angeles River, which will include coordination with the County of Los Angeles, the <br />City of Los Angeles and the Army Corps of Engineers. Lange also attended the <br />UCLA Medical Facility opening and Opening Day of the Thousand Oaks Little <br />League. <br />F. Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />12.
