Parks Division Report <br />Hare reported District staff and representatives from RRM Design Group have been <br />meeting with City staff regarding Sapwi Trails Community Park; in two weeks Hare will <br />bring Amendment #3 to the Board for approval of the development of off-site construction <br />documents. Hare has had initial discussions regarding a partnership with Cal Am Water for <br />a free mulch giveaway; Cal Am would use a District location in the Newbury Park area. An <br />Off Leash Area Ribbon Cutting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd from 11 am - <br />1 pm at Walnut Grove Neighborhood Park. Discussion ensued regarding the Dog Park and <br />the successluser satisfaction of the new decomposed granite surface; Hare will investigate <br />and provide feedback at a future meeting. The City of Thousand Oaks will be raising water <br />rates by 8% - Hare expects an approximate $40K increase in water costs to the District. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Coleman reported events at Dos Vientos Community Genter this week include a Friday <br />night Kid's Movie and a Pickieball Tournament on Saturday. The Gilbert & Sullivan <br />Repertoire Company will be performing Broadway songs at the Goebel Adult Community <br />Center; ticket sales are brisk — 250 tickets have been sold so far. The annual Teen vs. <br />Senior Pool Tournament will be held at the Goebel Center on March 3`d; free chill dogs will <br />be served. The annual Arts & Crafts Festival will be held at Borchard Community Center <br />the first weekend in March; vendors continue to be solicited. Also upcoming at Borchard is <br />the Mommy/Daughter Princess Tea. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No report. <br />C. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl commended Coleman on the handling of the Conejo Creek Grill opening and the <br />follow up required improving and maintaining its operation. Employees from the Recreation <br />Division, along with six T.O. Police Deputies, participated in a field trip with the 850 <br />Warwick After School Program children to the Long Beach Aquarium; funds for same were <br />used from drug forfeiture monies. The NPS Rim of the Valley Corridor Special Resource <br />Study for the Santa Monica Mountains is recommending Alternative D, which is what the <br />District recommended be pursued. Staff participated in an emergency situation/active <br />shooter training on February 9m; one week later site visits were made by local police <br />deputies to perform a walk thru of each center. Friedl met with Park Superintendent Matt <br />Kouba and COSCA Manager Shelly Mason to begin discussing how to commemorate <br />COSCA's upcoming 40u' anniversary (fall of 2017.) There is a need for an Executive <br />Closed Session this evening; no report is expected. <br />
