In answer to Huffer's question, Hare reported <br />District staff has been participating in the groundwater meetings with the City; Hare <br />reported an initial study has been done and there are still many logistics and funding issues <br />to be worked out. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Callis reported spring program guides have been mailed, and registration begins on March <br />11th. The Borchard Center is holding their annual Arts and Crafts Festival this Saturday <br />and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. In recognition of St. Patrick's Day, the Teen Center will <br />be holding a dance for middle schoolers, the Thousand Oaks Center will have a <br />Leprechaun's Lucky Gold Hunt and the Goebel Center will be serving corned beef, <br />cabbage and green beer with music and dancing. Callis also directed Board members to <br />check out the Rec Highlights for the latest events upcoming at the McCrea Ranch. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda thanked Hare, Callis, Massie and their staffs for helping to make the audit <br />process successful. Lange thanked Lewanda for her good leadership, both at CRPD and at <br />MBCA. <br />C. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl thanked the Board for their support of the employees honored at this evening's <br />Service Awards. He referenced two pieces of legislation including AB 2189 (Irwin Bill) to <br />change the rim of the valley trail corridor boundary; Lange stated that the SMMC has <br />decided not to take a position on this bill at the present time. SB 876 concerns issues <br />regarding public land and homelessness and rules other agencies have applied to deal with <br />these challenges. Other bills being tracked include unmanned drones, smoking near sports <br />fields, vandalism, etc. Jim will participate in a CARPD Legislative Council Committee <br />conference call tomorrow morning. Friedl referenced `Prom Again", Play Conejo's second <br />annual fundraiser to be held at the Teen Center on April 30th to raise funds for the <br />Dreamcatcher Playground. Sponsorship opportunities are available for both individuals <br />and businesses as well as donation of auction items. Last year the event netted <br />approximately $30,000; this year it is hoped the event will match or exceed that amount. <br />D. Directors' Reports & Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Holt recently attended the quarterly meeting of the Conejo Coalition for Youth and Families <br />meeting; it Included discussion of various student's comments who participated in the <br />recent Youth Summit. A report was presented regarding a new community non-profit to <br />help the homeless. Additionally, presentationslreports were made by the Chair of <br />CVUSD's "BreakThrough Student Assistance Program", Many Mansions, and the <br />Executive Director of "Community Conscience." Halt also attended the Finance and Audit <br />Committee Meeting. <br />
