November 5, 2015 <br />Page 4 <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare reported the Parks & Planning staff is preparing far the predicted EI Nino Cal Fire <br />crews have been working clearing out V -ditches in open space and removing materials <br />from drainage areas; sand bags are ready to go, and field closure protocol is being reviewd <br />by CRPD staff. The annual CRPD Photo Contest 2015 is underway; Board members have <br />the voting materials in their packets. Please return the ballots by the next Board meeting <br />on November 19th. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Karen reported on the flooding that occurred at the Goebel Center 8:00 pm Friday evening <br />and when it was discovered at 9:00 am Saturday morning; she shared pictures of the <br />damage. The Goebel Center will host, on Veteran's Day, a Breakfast at 8:00 am and a <br />USO show from 8:30 — 10:30 am. This will be followed by the annual Veteran's Day <br />Ceremony at 11:00 am at Conejo Creek North. The Mud Run is this Saturday. The Reign <br />of Terror Haunted House netted $43,000 this year (up from $30,000 last year.) $21,500 will <br />go to the Young Artists Ensemble and $21,500 to the Teen Center. All told, $131,000 has <br />been raised since the Haunted House's inception. A special recognition is being planned <br />for Bruce Stanton and Janss Mall personnel, thanking them for their support. Board <br />members will be notified when the check presentation is scheduled. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No Report. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported the Conejo Creek South Ad Hoc Committee met with Conejo Valley Days <br />(CVD) representatives; the reps provided a preliminary layout for CVD showing most of the <br />event situated on the parking lot and using only one field. One week later, staff met with <br />CVUSD Project Manager David Fateh; he indicated construction will start on the Janss <br />Road school property in late spring - mid summer of 2016. User groups are being alerted. <br />The City of Thousand Oaks began a groundwater study about a year ago. Friedl and Hare <br />will attend a meeting next Monday where the preliminary findings will be shared. Next <br />Friday is the deadline for job applications for the Recreation Administrator position. The <br />next COSCA Board meeting is on November 18'h; the Morrow Circle property offer to <br />COSCA should be on the agenda. The Gratitude Circle selection process has begun; <br />Board members should feel free to add names to the existing list of candidates. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />Gibson commended staff for putting extra time and consideration into the bike path project; <br />he feels this effort is well worth it and provides a positive message to the community. <br />F. Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Lange reported he recently attended the SMMC and MRCA Board meetings each <br />
