CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Jones called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and Gibson led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare, Lewanda and Lindsey and <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Conejo Open Space Trails Education Days Writing Contest Winners — <br />Elayne Haggan <br />Eric Berger — Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Sammy Edwards — Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Tarani Udayakumar — Wildwood Elementary <br />Max Wagner — Westlake Hills Elementary <br />Corey Witt -- Lang Ranch Elementary <br />Haggan reported this year marks the 20 anniversary of the annual writing contest. 2015 <br />attendance at Trails Education Days numbered 1345 fifth grade students representing 16 <br />CVUSD elementary schools. Over 90 volunteers and staff donated approximately 1000 hours <br />working on the event. 866 writing entries were received; most of the judges are retired <br />teachers. Haggan acknowledged all of the winners and Friedl presented them with gifts on <br />behalf of the District. Board members offered their congratulations to the students and their <br />families and acknowledged Haggan for her ongoing dedication to COSTAC. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Bonnie Clarfeld-Bylin, Thousand Oaks resident and Vice President of .the Conejo Valley <br />Audubon, expressed thanks and appreciation for Superintendent Matt Kouba and the COSCA <br />Rangers. <br />
