July 17, 2014
Page 4
Hare reported the State Water Board has approved emergency regulations
to ensure agencies adhere to water conservation practices -- the measures
will be implemented on August 1$t The District is doing its best to comply
with water conservation and will continue to look for more ways to help with
shortages. Yesterday Friedl, Hare, Park Superintendent Kouba, Borchard
Community Center (BOC) Recreation Supervisor Gunning and BOC
Recreation Coordinator Ricketts attended a guided channel walk, sponsored
by the Casa Conejo Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) and Supervisor
Parks — the walk went from Borchard Park down to the Newbury Park
Library. It was followed by a MAC meeting at 6:00 pm, which was attended
by approximately 40 people. Community outreach is currently underway
and a feasibility study is in the works. The District is involved, as there
would be a path connection from Borchard Community Park. The item will
likely come before the CRPD Board of Directors at a future meeting.
Gibson mentioned the State Water Board is requiring all agencies go to a
Stage 1 Water Conservation Plan. Discussion ensued regarding how to
deal with the current plan District -wide and the possibility of further, more
drastic measures that may need to be enforced.
B. Recreation Division Report
Coleman referenced the concert this Sunday at Conejo Community Park
and the Fishing Frenzy on Saturday, August 2nd at Conejo Creek North. The
Fall Program Guides will be mailed out on August 20th and registration will
commence on August 29th. The next McCrea Movie Night is on Saturday
August 16th from 8-10 pm; registration is $10. The Young Artists
Ensemble's 34th annual Teen Musical, "Jesus Christ Superstar," runs from
August 1St to 10th. Each night of the "Wizard of Oz" musical, directed by
Frank LaGuardia has been sold out; a different cast appears each evening.
C. Management Services Division Report
Lewanda absent.
D. General Manager's Report
Friedl reported the Tourism Improvement District has an active Board and
Committees. Friedl was invited to participate on the "Amateur Sports
Committee." Local hotels are hoping to host families visiting the area for
local sports tournaments and perhaps draw teams to the area for regional
and national tournaments. They are building a tourism website:
"conejo.com." The return to writ from the old Lang Ranch Community Park
project has been filed; a hearing has been set for next Thursday.
