DEFERRED MATTERS
8. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION
9. NEW ITEMS
A. Conejo Valley Days — 2014 Annual Agreement and Permit Conditions Conejo
Creek South
Hare reported this year's agreement is substantially similar to prior years.
Frank Akrey, Newbury Park, organizer of the event, indicated his resolve to make
this year's CVD the best yet, reminiscent of the event as it was in the 1990's. He
hopes to announce a new carnival provider tomorrow. Akrey introduced Betsy
Martin, Director of the Lucy Pet Foundation, the non-profit organization that is the
permittee for this year's event. Martin provided an overview of the work the
foundation does in promoting and providing animal spay and neuter.
Hare answered Board member's questions. Akrey was thanked for his hard work;
Akrey thanked the Board for their continuing support.
It was moved by Holt, seconded by Huffer, and carried 4-0 to authorize
General Manager to execute agreement with The Lucy Pet Foundation for the
Conejo Valley Days Agreement for 2014 and accept 2014 CVD Permit
Conditions.
B. Community Dog Meetings — Direct Staff Regarding Potential Off -Leash Dog
Areas
Hare presented the item; it is an outgrowth of the interest of residents in adding
more off -leash dog areas to the community. Two community meetings were held
recently, resulting in two major goals: creation of a non-profit and development of
small off -leash dog areas in nine existing parks. Currently a group is working on
the creation of a non-profit; staff looked at parks throughout District and came up
with a list of geographically spread out locations for off -leash dog areas. The next
step is to visit the sites with the goal of having community meetings at the four
parks at the top of the list over the next few months. Hare will return to the Board
