Capital Improvements <br /> <br />The city, District and Ride On have jointly committed $2.265 million towards capital <br />improvements at Rancho Potrero over the first 5 years of the lease. Ride On is responsible for <br />managing these construction projects and for contributing $300,000 in improvements including <br />in-kind donations and grants generated by Ride On. In 2023, Ride On contributed approximately <br />$29,900 worth of improvements. Over three years, Ride On has now contributed nearly <br />$216,500 in in kind contributions, not including in-kind donations of professional project <br />management and supervision. <br /> <br />Capital equipment and purchases last year amounted to approximately $214,500. Overall, <br />including City contributions prior to CRPD ownership, total improvements of $910,500 have <br />been invested over the last four years. This includes tractors and utility vehicles, two new <br />caretaker residences, stall and arena renovations the purchase of a water truck. <br /> <br />Environmental Footprint <br /> <br /> We continue to improve our environmental footprint. A concern with any animal facility is its <br />impact on water quality. At Rancho Potrero we have a robust, multi-layered approach to <br />protecting this resource. For example, on a daily basis, each stall, paddock and roadway is <br />cleaned of manure. This prevents any accumulation of waste. Next, Ride On is in the process of <br />regrading all 116 stalls to ensure that rainfall is diverted from all the stalls. Third, the stalls at <br />Rancho Potrero are 75% covered so when there is rain, the majority of rainfall is diverted and <br />never contacts manure. Finally, Ride On has been rehabilitating the bio-swale. This was built <br />with the facility but was long-neglected when we took over. The bio-swale is now regularly <br />maintained to ensure that it performs its job naturally filtering all the water from Rancho Potrero. <br /> <br />
