Recreation Division Highlights Page 3 of 4 Revised 07.2024
Fourth of July
Borchard Pancake Breakfast
On July 4th Borchard hosted their annual pancake breakfast with approximately 450 in attendance. In addition to Borchard’s staff we received assistance from our teen volunteer program and volunteers from Boy’s Team Charity and National Charity League.

Aquatics Free Recreational Swim
Free Recreational Swim for July 4 was a hit! Newbury Park High School pool made a splash with 102 swimmers enjoying a refreshing day of free recreational swim. Meanwhile, at the Community Pool at CLU, the excitement was palpable with 67 families eagerly lined up before opening time. By 12:30pm, the crowd swelled to over 100 attendees, and the pools hit maximum capacity at 1:45pm, accommodating a bustling 240 guests. Throughout the day the grand total for the CLU pool was 316 swimmers!
4th of July Concert
On the Fourth of July, Hot August Night - The Ultimate Neil Diamond Tribute band performed at our beautiful Conejo Community Park! They played all the hits, opening with Cherry Cherry and ending the concert with Sweet Caroline! An estimated 3,500 people were in attendance.
We had our Rec Van displayed in the grass area across the bridge from the stage area and it was a hit! We had concert goers decorating festive visors, door hangers, bracelets, and necklaces. As the crafts were going on one side of the Rec Van, we had patrons borrow the sports equipment to play touch football and soccer. We had about 50 concert
goers stop by the RecVan during the concert!
