tanuary 18, 202t <br />Page 3 <br />Dale Menagh, Thousand Oaks, believes two parks (Triunfo Canyon Park and Estella <br />Park) out of the three locations suggested for trial are a bad idea. <br />Bill Gorback believes pickleball will be a team sport and will eventually be adopted as <br />a school sport. He is in full support of pickleball at one of the sites, Oakbrook <br />Neighborhood Park. <br />Janet Wall disagrees with the CEQA exemptions referenced in the report and brought <br />19 more opposition votes from her neighbors. She is against using Triunfo Canyon <br />Park as one of the trial pickleball locations. <br />John Bell, Westlake Village, representing Foxmoor Hills HOA, read a letter sent to <br />Chair Lange that expressed opposition to placing pickleball courts at Triunfo Canyon <br />Park. Speaking as a private citizen, he also expressed his opposition to this plan. <br />Linda Pore spoke against putting trial pickleball courts at Triunfo Canyon Park. <br />Lori Watson, who lives near Oakbrook Neighborhood Park, stated her belief that real <br />estate values decrease based on proximity to pickleball courts and is against putting <br />trial pickleball courts at Oakbrook Neighborhood Park. <br />Friedl read into the record a summarized version of a written card submitted by Ann <br />Walker opposing pickleball courts at Oakbrook Neighborhood Park. <br />All Board members thanked residents for attending the meeting. Discussion ensued. <br />It was moved by Huffer, seconded by Lange, and it failed to carry, by a vote <br />*f 2-3 (Buss, Cusworth and Nickles voting no): <br />1 Determine that the Triunfo Community Park, Estella Park, and <br />Oakbrook Neighborhood Park Trial Pickleball courts are categorically <br />exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />2. Authorize trial pickleball courts at Oakbrook Neighborhood Park and <br />add permanently available pickleball nets at Estella Park. <br />Nickles moved, and the motion failed due to the lack of a second: <br />1 . Determine that the Triunfo Community Park, Estella Park, and <br />Oakbrook Neighborhood Park Trial Pickleball courts are categorically <br />exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />2.
