Approval • Warrants <br />Accounts Payable Check Registers Total $188,424.75 <br />Payroll $491,500.00 <br />It was moved by Nickles, seconded by Buss, and carried 5-0 to approve the <br />Consent Calendar as presented. <br />8. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />9. NEW ITEMS <br />A. Authorize Trial Pickleball Court Locations in Conejo Recreation and Park <br />District <br />Mooney provided some background on the multi-year process that has resulted in the <br />item presented on the agenda this evening, starting with the budget process in the <br />spring of 2021. In July of 2021, an Ad Hoc Pickleball Committee was formed, and <br />from 2021 to 2022, the committee met, reviewed sites, and staff held public outreach <br />meetings. In November of 2022, the Board approved prioritization of five sites for <br />possible courts. In June of 2023, the Board approved a two-year budget which <br />included a 10 -year Capital Improvement Projects document with five pickleball court <br />locations. In the fall and winter of 2023, the Ad Hoc Pickleball Committee met and <br />trial pickleball courts outreach meetings were held, resulting in the decision to <br />recommend Triunfo Community Park, Estella Park, and Oakbrook Neighborhood Park <br />as trial pickleball court locations. Mooney shared exhibits of each location and <br />described how the existing courts would be modified to allow for pickleball. <br />Bi Mo expressed concerns over the noise of pickleball playing and how it would affect <br />neighbor's mental and physical health at Triunfo Canyon Park. <br />Janet Wall read a written statement provided to her by Claudia Bill -de la Pen -a which <br />expressed opposition to the proposed pickleball courts at Triunfo Canyon Park. <br />David Birchman, Thousand Oaks, proposed that during the pickleball trial period, <br />some simple rules be established to allow the maximum number of people to play. <br />
