CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRIC <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />• 20, 2023 <br />6:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />M I N U T E S I <br />Huffer called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm and Howie led the flag salute. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Buss, Cusworth, Huffer, Lange and Nickles <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Mooney and Smith, and <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />Mooney introduced Tony Ruvalcaba, Pest Control Operator. His presentation included an <br />overview of the District's pest control needs and how those needs are supported, including weed <br />abatement, general pest control, rodent control, field refurbishment, bee removal/relocation, and <br />annual staff pesticide safety training. Ruvalcaba answered Board questions and was thanked for <br />his informative presentation. <br />Dos Vientos Community Center <br />Rick Tanaka, Supervisor, Dos Vientos Community Center (DVC), focused on school break <br />enrichment clubs provided by DVC. Although summer is the "big" season, DVC provides winter <br />and spring break clubs, as well. There is a high demand for these clubs, and DVC partners with <br />other local agencies, such as the City of Westlake Village, Las Virgenes School District and <br />Rancho Potrero Community Equestrian Center to help meet these demands. Classes are run by <br />both outside contractors and Dos Vientos staff. Tanaka shared his, and his staff's, desire to <br />continue to modify and develop programs to meet local community needs.
