Recreation Division Highlights Page 2 of 5 Revised 02.2023
Thousand Oaks Community Center
After School Enrichment
Thousand Oaks Community Center is excited to introduce Conejo Elementary School as our fourth school site offering afterschool programs starting this Spring! We are excited for this partnership and to work with the students there.
Over the Winter Session, our students at Weathersfield Elementary School had fun learning about the different anatomy of shellfish. Students were able to dissect fresh squid and even taste it! They also explored live scallops, clams, and oysters in this Marine Biology focused class.
Kids Club
Kids Club at Shadows Apartments is back! Kids Club made its return February 17 and will run every Friday until May 26. Each week participants will explore weekly themed activities, games, and crafts such as Mad Science, Little Chefs, and Wacky Art. We will also be hosting a few special days such as a field trip to the Thousand Oaks Center, a fun day at Beyer Park, and an end of the year party. Therapeutic Recreation
Valentines Day Dance
On February 11, 75 attendees joined us for our Valentines Dance. Everyone danced the night away and enjoyed a night out with friends. The room was decorated with pink and red balloons everywhere and dancers showed up in their Valentines Day colors.
Winter Programs
Winter Programs are in full swing for the Therapeutic Unit. 40 teens and adults are enjoying basketball at the Borchard Community Center on Wednesday and Thursday nights. For Adults Social and Friends, they have been working on deciding as a group what they would like to cook for lunch, making a grocery list, shopping, and purchasing items to cook.
