NEW ITEMS <br />A. Selection of Chair and Vice Chair <br />Friedl stated that, traditionally, the selection of Chair and Vice Chair is done in December. <br />It was moved by Lange and seconded by Nickles to nominate Huffer to serve as Chair. <br />It was unanimously agreed upon to close the nominations. The election of Huffer as <br />Chair was approved by a vote of 5-0. <br />Huffer assumed the position of Chair. <br />It was moved by Nickles and seconded by Cusworth to nominate Lange as Vice <br />Chair. It was unanimously agreed upon to close the nominations. The election of <br />Lange as Vice Chair was approved by a vote of 5-0. <br />Friedl thanked Chair Cusworth for all her efforts during 2022 and presented her with a token <br />of appreciation from the District. Cusworth thanked the Board for their support during the year; <br />Board members expressed deep appreciation for her service. <br />8. DEFERRED MATTERS <br />A. PUBLIC HEARING <br />Receive presentation from demographic consultant regarding proposed draft maps from <br />consultant and any submitted by members of the public; conduct a public hearing to solicit <br />public testimony regarding the draft maps and proposed sequence of elections; receive <br />direction from the Board of Directors regarding any proposed revisions. <br />Huffer opened the Public Hearing. <br />Dr. Justin Leavitt, Vice President, National Demographics Corporation, referenced the <br />Districting process that began on November 17' with the first public hearing and included <br />education and solicitation of input on the composition of districts; this was followed by <br />another public hearing on December 1st with the same goal. Maps were released on <br />Thursday, December 8t" and tonight's hearing, along with a hearing on January 5t", are <br />meant for gathering input, discussion and possible revising of the draft maps. Leavitt <br />reviewed the criteria used in drawing the maps. Six maps were presented with details on <br />the composition of each. Leavitt stressed this is the first pass at the maps; he is eager to <br />
