Recreation Division Highlights Page 2 of 8 Revised 11.2022 <br />Sports Unit <br /> <br />Monster Smash Pickleball Tournament <br />The Sports Unit, along with Ventura County Pickleball Club, hosted the fourth annual Monster Smash Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, October 29, and Sunday, October 30. A total of 107 teams (214 players) participated in Men’s & Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles Divisions across ten courts at Rancho Conejo Playfields. Many spectators enjoyed the two days. There were giveaways and raffles provided by sponsors and great match play on display by the players. Monster Medals were awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Divisions ran from 2.5 (Beginner) up to 4.0 (Advanced). Recognition was also given to Teams playing in cool costumes! <br />Thank you to Ventura County Pickleball Club’s volunteers Pat & Jay for all their hard work scheduling over 100 matches along Sharon, Carol & Kathrin for weekend Tournament coverage. All Tournament court monitors were volunteers from the Club scheduled by Sharon. Event sponsors included Kirby Subaru, Sanders Insurance Services, Loan Depot, and Engel & Völkers Real Estate. <br />The Monster Smash was a Blast; a great time had by all! Our next tournament run in partnership with Ventura County Pickleball Club will be our “Winter Blast” on January 28 & 29, 2023. Dos Vientos Community Center <br />Gingerbread House Decorating Party <br />Join us on Saturday, December 10, at 11:00am while the community comes together to add gum drops and frosting to create colorful gingerbread houses. Participants ages 5-12 can enjoy gingerbread <br />decorating, crafts, friends, and family fun. This is an outdoor event with lots of Holiday Fun!
