Lange, Director Chuck Huffer, Director Doug Nickles, Director GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS Tex Ward DATE: October 20, 2022 TO: Board of Directors FROM: Jim Friedl, General Mana SUBJECT: Amendment of Existing----- ion and Site Lease Agreements with Verizon Wireless, for Emergency Backup Generators at Conejo Community Park, Dos Vientos Community Park, Paige Lane Neighborhood Park, and Wildflower Playfield RECOMMENDATION Authorize the General Manager to approve amendment of existing Option and Site Lease Agreements with Verizon Wireless, for emergency backup generators at Conejo Community Park, Dos Vientos Community Park, Paige Lane Neighborhood Park, and Wildflower Playfield DISCUSSION Sequoia Deployment Services, Inc., working on behalf of Verizon Wireless is proposing standby emergency generators for existing wireless facilities at four park locations, Conejo Community Park, Dos Vientos Community Park, Paige Lane Neighborhood Park, and Wildflower Playfield. New state regulations encourage cell providers to have at least 72 hours of backup power for each cell site that they maintain. The reserve power ensures uninterrupted communication among first responders over specific networks. The backup generators supporting these systems are used for emergency purposes only, with an occasional burst to exercise the motor. Conejo Community Park The amendment to the lease proposed for Conejo Community Park represents the third amendment to the Option and Lease Agreement approved by CRPD Board of Directors, in October of 2012. All three Amendments, irrespective of when approved, run concurrently with the original lease when the Option was exercised.
