Adopt Resolution 090822-A Accepting all of Volume 1 and the Conejo Recreation
and Park District Portion of the Volume 2 Within Ventura County Multi -
Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan 2021
Friedl introduced Megan Brotherton (attending via Zoom), Consultant with "Tetra Tech",
who worked closely with both the County and the District on this mitigation plan and
was made available for any questions. Friedl reported the District does a variety of
things regarding emergency preparedness (both with the City of Thousand Oaks,
Ventura County and independently); this is CRPD's first time being part of the county-
wide Multi -Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. In order to get help from federal and
state government, and to get grant funding before and after a disaster, planning
documents are necessary. Park Operations Analyst Palermo was instrumental in the
preparation of these plans. Brotherton stated the point of these plans is for pre -disaster
mitigation funding opportunities and it is essential for jurisdictions to have these plans
in place to apply for funding opportunities. It's an excellent model for looking at hazards
that could impact the area and how to prevent them. Mitigation projects lessen the need
for response, frees up resources and is a valuable part of planning. This five-year plan
has seven mitigation actions that are fundable. Board member's questions were
answered and Friedl thanked Brotherton for her assistance. Huffer recommended
changing the motion to read "adopting" vs. "accepting" so as to be consistent with the
Resolution. Board members concurred with this change.
