CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />June 16, 2022 <br />6:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />Cusworth called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm and McQueeney led the flag salute. <br />Directors Present: Cusworth, Holt, Huffer, and Nickles <br />Directors Absent: Lange <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare, and Smith, and <br />Administrative Assistant Foster <br />Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship — Bryan McQueeney <br />McQueeney reported on Ride On and its programming accomplishments. Ride On has <br />partnered with CRPD for 21 years at the Walnut Grove Equestrian Center and has been <br />overseeing the Rancho Potrero Equestrian Center for the past year now. Programs include <br />horseback riding lessons, educational partnerships, publicly accessible trail rides, and <br />affordable horse boarding. Ride On charges $550-$600 for horse boarding. Neighboring <br />stables were recently surveyed, and the rate charged by Ride On was found to be below <br />the median fee, and lower than all nine stables who provided specific values. The <br />organization is recognized as a United States Equestrian Federation "Center of Excellence <br />for Para -Dressage." The City of Los Angeles selected Ride On to lead its para -equestrian <br />development in advance of the 2028 Paralympic Games by providing opportunities to youth <br />in underserved communities. Ride On has developed a $2.3 million Capital Improvement <br />Plan to enhance its facilities. In-person fundraising events will resume in September. <br />McQueeney commended CRPD for its dedication to partnering with nonprofit organizations <br />throughout the community. <br />Youth Outreach — Sarah Daub <br />Daub reported on the Youth Outreach Program's services throughout the 2021-2022 <br />school year. The program is a collaboration between the Conejo Valley Unified School <br />District (CVUSD) and CRPD and includes three part-time Outreach Specialists based out <br />of the Thousand Oaks Teen Center.
