Determine that the Alex Fiore Teen Center and Goebel Adult Community Center Expansion and Renovation <br />Project is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />2. Approve the Alex Fiore Teen Center and Goebel Adult Community Center Expansion and Renovation <br />Project. <br />3. Recognize anticipated revenue in the amount of $1,300,000 and appropriate to Teen Center and Goebel <br />Adult Community Center Expansion and Renovation (Account 13-802-851-81005-000). <br />4. Award bid to Solex Construction, Inc. for $3,526,250 Base Bid including Alternates #1 A -G, #2 and #3, plus <br />contingency in the amount of $350,750, totaling $3,877,000 for construction of expansion improvements <br />and interior renovations. <br />CEQA COMPLIANCE <br />Interior Renovation of Teen and Adult Centers <br />For the Board's consideration and approval, District staff believes the Renovation Project qualifies for a Class <br />2 Categorical Exemption, pursuant to Section 15302 of the CEQA Guidelines. Class 2 exemptions include <br />replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the <br />same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure <br />replaced. In this case, the project is renovating the existing restrooms, kitchen, and various rooms with tenant <br />improvements. <br />Exterior Expansion of Teen and Adult Centers <br />For the Board's consideration and approval, District staff believes the Expansion Project qualifies for a Class 3 <br />Categorical Exemption, pursuant to Section 15303 of the CEQA Guidelines. Class 3 exemptions include the <br />construction of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures. In this case, the project is further developing <br />current areas utilized as outdoor recreational spaces. The Teen Center's existing backyard area will be <br />renovated with paving, landscaping, shade structures, and various outdoor recreational features. The Adult <br />Center's rear area will be renovated with perimeter paving at the existing horseshoe pit area, and a new shaded <br />rubber -surfaced fitness area.
