June 3, 2021
Page 2
goals included expanding the Museum's social media presence and broadening its
audience — to put the Museum back in the center of the community. These goals have
been pushed somewhat due to the pandemic. The motto became "If you can't come to
the Museum, we'll bring the Museum to you." Goldsworthy reviewed the ways this was
accomplished, including outdoor collections, presentations, and virtual activities. The
Museum missed major sources of revenue, including weddings and school tours, due
to COVID-19. It became important to become very creative very quickly and to come
up with different ways to present the history of the region. Work on preserving, digitizing
and curating the Museum's collection continued; the Museum has had many donations
offered and Goldsworthy shared pictures of some that were added to the collection. The
Theme for 2020 was "Women in History," which included a very successful Suffrage
Exhibit and Event. Although financials shared show a major hit to the Museum's
revenue, virtual tours were offered to keep the Museum connected to the community
and Goldsworthy shared a few of the videos with the Board. The Junior Docent and
Internship Program have been revitalized. Currently the Museum is only open on
Saturdays (due to staffing difficulties). The Museum is in the midst of its "Heritage Oak"
fundraising campaign. Looking forward, there are activities planned that will be slightly
modified due to health guidelines; it is hoped the Museum will become the "place to be",
especially during the holidays. Pam Pond, President of the Conejo Valley Historical
Society, joined Goldsworthy in answering Board member's questions and they were
thanked for their comprehensive presentation.
It was
-• by Huffer, seconded by Holt, and carried 5-0 to approve the agenda as
presented.
•
A.
