CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />June 3, 2021 <br />6:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />M I N U T E S <br />1101 11�11111 'i <br />Nickles called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm and Pond and Tejada led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Cusworth, Holt, Huffer, Lange, Nickles <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare and Smith, Recreation <br />Services Manager Duerr, Senior Park Planner Mooney, Executive <br />Assistant Reynders and IT Assistant Bermudez <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Chas h Indian Museum <br />Barbara Tejada, Board Chair, Oakbrook Chumash Indian Corporation (OCIC), provided <br />information on the measures taken over the last year to keep the Museum afloat during <br />the pandemic. Several grants were procured which helped fiscally. The Museum's <br />digital presence was diversified via Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. School tours <br />were switched to a virtual format. An evening speaker series (grant funded) was held <br />via Zoom and Facebook Live. The online gift shop continued to sell merchandise, <br />including face masks. The Museum is currently open from 11:00 am to 3:00pm; it is <br />hoped that regular hours can be resumed shortly and that group gatherings can re- <br />commence in the near future. There have been a number of facility improvements and <br />the research library is growing. Current staffing includes four part-time employees and <br />approximately 12 volunteers. Plans for financially rebuilding include looking for <br />additional cost savings and researching new grant opportunities. Plans for the future <br />include an expansion of public programming, building onto current virtual offerings and <br />diversifying income streams. Tejada expressed deep appreciation for the District's <br />ongoing support. She answered Board member's questions and was thanked for her <br />informative presentation. <br />Stagecoach Inn Museum <br />Jana Goldsworthy joined the Stagecoach Inn Museum (STI) as its Director in February <br />2020. She expressed gratitude for the great team of STI volunteers, dedicated <br />community members and the wonderful support from CRPD. When she joined STI, her <br />
