Minutes 5-23-01 <br />Page 5 <br />M. Staff Reports <br />Schrock said that staff and Commission representatives met with <br />representatives of the pool players, and discussed ways to help meet pool <br />expenses. He said that fundraising options were discussed, including <br />barbecues, tournaments, and collections. He said that the pool players <br />demonstrated a willingness to work with the Commission, and it was a good <br />meeting. Giovenco concurred. <br />Schrock referenced the documentation, reviewed past and upcoming <br />programs, supplied supplemental information, answered questions, and <br />reported on the attendance of many of the events. He noted that the two <br />intergenerational programs, Reptile Family on Safari and Wolves in Wildlife, <br />were both outstanding presentations, the Home Energy Efficiency Seminar <br />was cancelled due to lack of interest, the Texas Scramble and Banquet was <br />well attended, and the Spring Ball has been cancelled. <br />He presented an update of the Senior Festival, and said that there were 225 <br />participants, the entertainment was excellent, workshops and <br />demonstrations were all very informative, and lunch was a crowd pleaser. He <br />said that at the upcoming evaluation meeting a change in format for next <br />year's event will be discussed. <br />He thanked Doane, Fiorita, and Tony Fiorita for their assistance at the <br />Newcomers Orientation. <br />6. Commission Concerns <br />On behalf of the Commission, Fiorita thanked Bartholomay and Courant for <br />their many years of service to the center. Bartholomay and Courant thanked <br />the Commission for the luncheon and gift. Further, Fiorita thanked <br />Zimmerman, Milligan, and Boscia for their assistance with the luncheon. <br />Concluding, Fiorita said that invitations to the anniversary party have been <br />mailed, and she distributed minutes and an agenda for the upcoming <br />anniversary party committee meeting. <br />s <br />
