April 1, 202
Page 4 1
Hare reported Persian New Year is this weekend; last year at this time the Conejo
Creek North Park was closed. This year the park will be open — preparations are
in place in anticipation of increased use of the park.
Callis referenced a CRPD Patron Survey that was recently tabulated and provided
to the Board this evening; she gave kudos to the Recreation Staff for the high
satisfaction ratings, especially given the challenges faced during the pandemic.
The Board was also provided with a handout of the Recreation Division's goals for
the coming year. Community Centers will have extended hours beginning Monday,
April 19th. Although there are no open gym hours yet, a new rental program is being
implemented — families can rent 1/2 of a gym with a maximum of six people
participating from no more than three households. The Centers themselves will be
open to participants for rentals or programs; front desks will be staffed to offer
service for any requests. If Ventura County moves to the Orange Tier, which is
anticipated, there will be more changes ahead. Callis explained the plans for the
five summer concerts in the park, which will include online registration, and the
"drawing" of squares on the grass with not more than four people allowed per
square and headcount monitoring. The "You've Been Egged" event was a big
success; 92 homes were visited. Summer registration begins on Monday April 19th
at 9:00 am. Summer brochures will be sent out soon.
C. Management Services Division Report
Smith reported she continues to investigate the most recent Covid Relief Bill; tax
relief eligibility for the District has been identified. The eligibility begins today
through the end of September; the Finance and Human Resources Department are
currently working on its implementation.
q iiiiiiii 11111liq 111pil
Friedl reiterated staffs intent to have a little fun with the April Fool's Day Board
agenda items; it seemed especially appropriate given the last 30 months or so of
challenges faced by the District and the community at large. He appreciates the
Board's cooperation. He stated there is a need for a closed session this evening
with no report expected.
E. Directors Reports and Follow-up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended
Huffer and Cusworth attended the Revenue Measure Ad Hoc Committee meeting
with staff and consultants. Huffer continues his work with the Tax Program at Goebel
