b. More convenient and spontaneous travel and adventure to exotic recreational
destinations worldwide via the Navy's existing seaport and airstrip infrastructure.
c. A real life "Survivor" experience - San Nicolas Island style — where any interested
resident could visit the island on a "survivor" pass and test their mettle and try to
outlast the current record holder: Juana Maria3. And, if the Navy ever wants to
open their island to civilians, CRPID would have first dibs to create its own
"Fantasy Island."
By annexing into CRPD's jurisdiction, new residents would be able to enjoy what they already
have: namely, free access to all of CRPID parks, 150 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails
ringing the Conejo Valley, and loads of awesome, life -enriching recreation programs and
classes. Basically, they will have full access to all the awesomeness CRPID has to offer: Great
parks with great neighbors and a bunch fun and friendly people working and volunteering in
them. And by joining the CRPID family, they would feel even more invested in their community
knowing a piece of their property tax dollar would now be supporting their local parks.
Seriously, this is such a no brainer.
And, there is no time to lose, we must act quickly, because if CRPID doesn't jump on this
opportunity, the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MBCA) probably will.
Staff are eager to get started and await the Board's affirmative vote.
This initiative meets every single one of each and every Strategic Plan Element and Objective.
Aftachments
Exhibit 1 CRPD Existing Jurisdictional Boundary Map
Exhibit 2 CRPID Annexation Area and Expanded Boundary Map
Exhibit 34 Hidden Valley Recreational Use Concept Plan
' If you don't know, you'll want to look it up.
4 Thanks to Larry Page and Sergey Brin for Google and to Andrew Mooney and Bill Palermo for their work on the Exhibits.
