Waive formal request for proposal process for tree maintenance services contracts.
2. Authorize General Manager to execute a contract with West Coast Arborists, nc. in the
amount not to exceed $175,000 annually for potential tree maintenance services at parks
throughout the District.
3. Authorize General Manager to execute a contract with Treescapes in the amount not to
exceed $175,000 annually for potential tree maintenance services at parks throughout the
District.
DISCUSSION
The District, as well as residents and visitors -to District parks, expect a high DeveO of professionally -
maintained trees — trees are one of the District's most valuable assets.
The District provides a comprehensive maintenance program for thousands of trees on park
property and historically has relied upon outside service providers to assist in the tasks required.
In the Summer of 2019, the District ended its relationship with long time tree maintenance service
provider Mortimer Tree Service when Dave Mortimer retired. Since that time, the District has used,
on a trial basis, multiple tree maintenance service providers recommended by the City of
Thousand Oaks and Dave Mortimer.
From these efforts, two service providers, West Coast Arborists, Onc. and Treescapes, have
displayed the qualifications needed, including but not limited to: breadth and depth of capabilities,
experience, response time, professional certifications, and licenses (e.g., certified arborists);
necessary to provide a high level of tree services to the District.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
805-495-6471 1 Fax: 805-497-3199 1 parks@crpd.org I www.crpd.org
