This includes providing information to our
community about services available for youth. The Youth Commission holds public meetings September through May on
the first and third Wednesday of each month. Students are encouraged to attend meetings and present concerns, ideas,
or announce special events. Middle and High School representatives are encouraged to attend and provide school reports.
Pete Martinez serves as one of two adult advisors to this group.

Youth Commission Virtual Meeting Dates: 09/02, 09/09, 10/07, 10/21, 11/04, and 11/18

Outreach Worker Reflections
These past months have been challenging for everybody, especially our students. Their transition
to staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on academics and
mental health. The outreach team has been reaching out to all prior participants and receiving new
students from each CVUSD school. Keeping our fingers crossed that we will return to normal soon.
-- Elizabeth Sorensen, November 2020

Outreach Worker Reflections
Throughout the fall, Youth Outreach Workers, with the help of school counselors, have been
working hard to connect with struggling students. The plan is to provide support for these students
by offering them our new Scope of Adaptive Services. Youth Outreach conducted a successful
Virtual Meet & Greet event in November. CVUSD representatives were able to watch presentations
from 22 local social service providers. Important and needed information was shared and gathered
by all in attendance.
It is with mixed emotions and much reflection that I announce my retirement which will be effective
as of 12/31/20. It has been a privilege and honor to have served the youth in our community.
-- Pete Martinez, November 2020
